MS Word mail merge error

Question

Twice today I have come across a problem I haven&rsquo;t encountered before. 
 
 During project preparation, Studio (2015) tells me that &ldquo;This Microsoft Word document cannot be opened because it is main document for Mail Merge&rdquo;. 
 
 This happened the same day as I updated the Studio software to the most recent release. 
 
 If anybody knows of a workaround besides copying the text over in a new document, I would really like to hear about it.

That's a new one on me... maybe Word is hanging onto it perhaps? Can I see the file? If so you can email me at pfilkin@sdl.com

Hi, I had the same problem and the solution can be found on Microsoft support. 
 
You just switch from "Mail Merge Main document", whatever that is, to normal document and save.
