Translation Quality Assessment -- only for Studio Professional?

Checking the contents in the manual I discover that I can't find the TQA option anywhere in my Studion Freelance edition. Is this another case of a feature not included in that edition but only in the Professional edition -- without a word about that restriction in the Help?

Judging from this page: http://blog.translationzone.com/measuring-translation-quality-in-sdl-trados-studio-2015-with-tqa/ it is found only in Professional.

But in this list: http://kb.sdl.com/#tab:homeTab:crumb:7:artId:4939 nothing about such a restriction is to be found.

I find this irritating. (And, once again, I don't believe I used the trial Professional version when I wrote the previous text. So, a mystery!)

  • Hi Mats,

ok.  I must admit this is the first time I have ever seen anyone look at this much detail so it's quite good you are as we can improve it.

First of all we do have this page in the help about Studio versions which you can find pretty easily just searching for Freelance.  You'll also see this link just under that which relates to TQA for Freelancers.

I reckon if I look hard enough I'll find more references too... but I agree with you that it would make sense to make this all more prominent every time we talk about a Pro feature, or even a Freelance feature for that matter that will not work in any other edition.  Perhaps it makes sense to add something to each page that specifies the compatible versions.  Then it would always be clear.

As for the version you used when you wrote the text... I don't know what else to say to you.  I checked back through my emails and you have been on the Beta as early as August 2013 (maybe earlier) so definitely had access to the Professional versions.  Maybe you wrote that part when you were using this?  All I can tell you is that TQA has 100% never been available to the Freelance version for anything other than being able to use it for a specific project where TQA has been configured.  In fact maybe this is how you did it?

It's a mystery if it's none of these things :-)

    Regards
