Hi,

It sounds as though you may have more than one TM attached to your Project and only one of them set to update.  The result being that when you are in the segment first the result you are seeing is from your Main TM perhaps that is not set to update.  Then when you press Ctrl+Enter you send the translation to the second TM that did not have a result for this segment and now you have two.  The Translation Results window will naturally show both and if they are the same you will get a duplicate match penalty.

Perhaps worth checking in your Project Settings to see how many TMs you have set up and also which one(s) are being updated.

Hello again Paul,

Thanks for your answer. I am using just one TM for the project. Maybe I didn't explain myself. I open the corrected file using the project TM, and when I get to a segment the client has amended, I want to "delete" my old translation of that segment and upload the approved one into the TM. I press Ctrl + Enter and immediately I see that in the Translation results window there are two possible translations (mine and the one suggested by the client), as explained before. Maybe there is a way to disable the penalty for multiple translations within the same TM?

Hello again,

I just came up with the answer! In Project settings, under Translation Memories and Automated translation, the option Penalties allows me to change the penalties for multiple translations. I set it to 0 and the problem is now solved :-)

Hi Carolina,

I'm glad that works for you, but I'm not sure it's the real answer to the problem.  Studio does not store "true" duplicates in a single TM unless you have specifically added the TU as a new TU.  This is different to simply confirming the segment:  Both commands are shown here:

So if the TUs are really exactly the same then perhaps it's worth checking the way you were confirming them to the TM?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your comment. I am confirming the TUs by pressing Crtl + Enter. After setting the penalties to 0, only the approved translation was included in the TM, replacing the old translation, so I only have one 100% result in the Translation results window, instead of duplicate 99% translations.
