Skip tracking and kerning in Project settings/File types IDML

Question

In our out of the box studio 2015 this Adobe InDesign CS4-CC IDML file type is checked. WE have been losing our tracking values in the target IDML.

The wording of this explanation is confusing, If checked it's removing the tag values?

If unchecked does it keep the tag values? Just starting to test since our DTP staff has been complaining for weeks.

Skip tracking and kerning

Kerning and tracking information applied to source text is usually too closely aligned to the source language text layout to be useful for the translated text, so usually you should not process these tags.

If you do process these tags, then kerning tags are represented by <k...> tags, and tracking tags by <t...> tags.

Note: Even if you choose to skip them, where those tags are combined with other tags, the information is represented in tags in the target document.

Hi Hector, 
 When working on an IDML file, as you have seen, you can decide if skip or not the kerning and tracking option. 
 
 When you check it the document in Studio appears as follows:

and the output result, when you generate the target file (SHIFT+F12) is as follows ( i.e. no tracking -30 ems on the second line of text ):

When you leave this option unchecked the document in Studio appears as follows:

and the pertinent output result, when you generate the target file (SHIFT+F12) is as follows ( i.e. tracking -30 ems on the second line of text and a kerning of -100 ems between final L and T of the third line ):
