Hi,

Are you using local filebased TMs or are your TMs stored on another drive perhaps?  That would be the first place I'd look... otherwise it may be related to your AntiVirus.  It's worth checking these KB articles:

I am looking at the anti-virus thing. I saw this on Translation Zone as well.

Make also sure, your hard disk system is up to date. Defragment the HDD where your files are stored. Never store files and TMS on an USB stick, the interface is far to slow.

If you have files on the network and use a laptop, place at least TMs and TBs on a local HDD in laptop, as if you WiFi is only standard "g", the connection is too slow for good working.

My problem seems to be with ttx files, which take forever to process. Word files are OK.

Possibly but there is also another thing you can do to improve the speed in which TTX files can be handled.  Some TTX files, depending on the underlying source file content, can be quite heavy on document structure information.  So if you uncheck the generation of this information the speed can dramatically increase:
