Can’t deactivate a Starter license because it’s not on the list of licenses.

Hello, I have a problem regarding an SDL Trados Studio 2015 Starter license.

I’m trying to transfer a Studio Freelance version from one computer to another. The latter computer has a Starter license. I’ve tried to delete the Starter license from that computer in order to install the Freelance version. However, it says that the Starter version must be deactivated first before it can be completely deleted from the computer.

When I tried to download the Studio Freelance version, the Starter version appeared again although it should have been deleted, so I assume it’s mandatory to deactivate the Starter version first.

However, the license of the Starter version that I’m trying to deactivate does not appear on the list of licenses I have, although the license has 76 days left as of this day.

I’m wondering where this license may be when it doesn’t appear on the list. Is there any other possibility to deactivate it on my computer?

  • Hi Bernd,

After checking your account, I see multiple licenses legacy in use and Studio 2015 Fr PLUS and Studio Starter 2015 both activated today under different users.

The software download is exactly the same what ever version you use- its the license key only that determines the version.

Its obvious here that the original Studio starter license was NOT deactivated in the first place

The best way to resolve this is be reinstalling Studio (on the Starter machine) Starting Studio- then go to HELP- License activation and then deactivate the license.

Wait twenty minutes then just restart Studio and activate this time with the Freelance version.

Please let me know how you get on.
