Urgent Word Document: "Failed to save target content: The method or operation is not implemented"

Hi all

After the review in my translation from German to Italian in a very complex Word document, I got this error:
"Failed to save target content: The method or operation is not implemented"

I red the various conversations and tried already all the solutions you proposed in this post http://bit.ly/2fGAT1q without success.
KB #4731: both case A and B failed
Verify F8: no Tags problems

I don't know if this information can help you, but actually I'm having problem with the translation of this file since the beginning (but no problem opening the source Word file). The first time I could save the target but when I wanted to open the Word it gave me an error "xml parser". I resolved it sending the file to the Microsoft community (http://bit.ly/2eGX4DO) and they repaired it. After the review I sent it again, but the repaired file I received back was for 80% still in German instead of Italian.

If needed I can send:

- the original Word file (DE)
- the problematic sdlxliff
- sdl error files
- the previous sdlxliff which generate a corrupted Word target
- the TM

It is really urgent because I still need to check the review and the deadline is Monday.

Thank you for your help!

  • Hi Francesca,

ok.  I have recovered the translation like this:

    1. Opened the source file again, but this time used the newer Word filetype in Studio 2015.  Make sure that the "WordprocessingML v.2" is at the top of your list in your filetype options:

    2. I created a TM, imported your old sdlxliff file into it (I don't have your TM)
    3. Ran through the translation fixing tag differences between the two filetypes
    4. Saved the target

The new filetype is a lot more forgiving.  I'll send you a link to where you can download the files by email.  You will need to check these files thoroughly as there were a few segments left untranslated here and there and I could easily have missed something between Italian and German.  But a brief look and it seems ok.

    Regards

    Paul
