Unknown error preventing me from fully accessing the server

Hi there,

I am working on a server-based project and when checking in files or attempting to run a Pre-Translation of them, I get an error that neither I nor my Project Manager have ever seen before: 'There was a connection protocol error. Please check that you are using the correct HTTP or TCP server connection settings.' I have checked the server settings various times and everything is in order. I have deleted the server, closed Studio 2015 and then opened it again and added the server again and the error still appears. Sometimes it doesn't appear, but the Pre-translation tool doesn't work properly and the TM is not updating. For some reason, I do not have permission to select the 'Update' option in the TM settings.

The error messages are as below:

When I tried to check in a file, the error message was 'The underying connection was closed by the server.'

When trying to run a Pre-Translation: 'There was a connection protocol error. Please check that you are using the correct HTTP or TCP server connection settings'.

Then, when I went to File>Setup>Servers, the server I am working on said it was unavailable and when I clicked on 'Check server availability', I received: TranslationProvider Threw Exception

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Or at least know how I can enable the 'Update' option in this instance? The files I am working on are enormour and very repetitive, so not having the TM updating is slowing me down so much!

Your help is much appreciated

  • Hi Annie,

    >For some reason, I do not have permission to select the 'Update' option in the TM settings.
Check that you have the privileges with your Project Manager.
You have to have the privileges to change project settings on your account

When your internet connections cuts out during a project, Trados will disable certain settings in the project.
I would recommend saving and checking in all files, and downloading a fresh project from the server again.

However, for backup, you can save your old project somewhere in case it is needed.
