Hi to all,
as Studio Editor view allows us to display some non-printable characters, such as normal spaces ( . ), tabs ( → ), line feeds ( ←┘ [LF] ), non-breaking spaces ( ° ), and according to the new Studio 2017 option to merge segments closed with an end-of-paragraph ( ¶ ), I wonder if it is possible to display the end-of-paragraph character ( ¶ [CR-LF] ) too.
I appreciate that, when imported and segmented in Studio, the end of a segment normally corresponds to an end-of-paragraph, but this is not always true as we can decide to segment a paragraph using other criteria (e.g., a colon followed by a space [: ], or a full-stop followed by a space [. ]).
Now, as said before, and even if I consider it sometimes dangerous due to the structure of the document imported and to be exported to its original format when translated, Studio allows to merge two subsequent segments separated by an end-of-paragraph ( ¶ [CR-LF] ).
Then, what about displaying the ¶ non-printable character too?
From my point of view, this could help to further perceive how the original text has been segmented when managing the segments displayed.
In the example here below, the first segment has been generated by a colon followed by a space, the second one by an end-of-paragraph character ( ¶ [CR-LF] ) and the third one by a full-stop followed by a space.
I do not know if this will be possible, it’s just a request/proposal to the SDL developers.
Thank you for your attention/comments.
