Error not fixed by KB fix: The context is null. Could not get the last child.

Question

I am translating a pdf file - processed in Studio 2015, not OCR'd externally. Two of three files for the job have processed smoothly but one will not create target. 
 I followed the hyperlink resolution here: kb.sdl.com/ 
 But that did not solve it. Same error. Any suggestions on what should I try next? 
 (Apologies if this question shows up twice. I submitted it about an hour ago but it never appeared - maybe I hit a bug.)

Thanks Karen... just closing of the thread and confirming the resolution for me anyway. Might help someone else. 
 
1. Opened the PDF in Studio 2015 SR2 
2. This gave me the DOCX 
3. Opened the DOCX in Studio 2015 SR2, ensuring I was using the latest Word filetype 
4. Pre-translated against a TM created from the original SDLXLIFF 
5. Corrected any missing translation and tag errors 
6. Saved the target

Hi Karen, 
 I reckon you might have to process the files again, but this time use the docx file that you should find in the same folder as the source PDF. Open the DOCX, tidy it up a little as needed and than translate the DOCX making sure you also use the new, and more giving Word filetype: 
 
 So make sure that in your options the WordprocessingML v. 2 filetype is at the top, or just deactivate the old one. Open the file file, pretranlsate against your TM, correct any tag differences here and there (if necessary) and save the target again.

Hi Karen, 
 
Sounds to me as though an upgrade might help you too. I'd love to say 2017 of course, but in reality you must be on an old version of 2015. The Word filetype has moved on within the 2015 lifetime, so you have a free upgrade to take advantage of anyway. Could be that alone will resolve your problem as the PDF conversion uses the word filetype to process the file. 
 
You should be on SDL Trados Studio 2015 SR2 v. 12.2.5195.7 
 
If you are on this version then it sounds to me as though you have imported some old project templates and this could also be the source of your problem.
