Creating a Package with a project TM based on server TM

Hello again,

I have one huge partially translated  .doc which has to be finished by the end of the week.

How do I create a project package correctly? We are using a server-based TM. Our external translator does NOT have access to it. Also, we don't necessarily require Return Package, target file would do since the translator is a trusted one.

In fact, I've just created a package, but it's only 2 mb in size which is confusing since our server-based TM alone is around 30 mb. So, how do I pack our server-based TM as a project TM in a package? Which option is to be selected?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

  • A project TM never contains the full data of a master TM. The purpose of project TM is to create a translation memory, which contains exactly the segments from the main TM, which are needed for the particular project.

You can check the package (it is a zip container, so you can open it with WinZIP or similar - or just add ZIP as file name extension and open in Windows), if there is a TM folder and what kind of TM is enclosed there.

When creating a project TM the minimum match value and the number of hit settings in the TM settings within the project settings are relevant. With 70/5 you get a number of units in your project TM. If you change the settings to for example 40/9, the number of units will be more than two times bigger.
