Accents

Question

I tried to understand how to add accents to words when translating using the software, but it's all too complicated. Can't I just use the same system I use when translating in Word? I normally just use Ctrl+' for an acute accent, for example. (I'm a brand new user of the software)

Hello Ms Usher, 
 
Could you tell me what are the keyboard settings of your computer? 
 
All you need to do is have a keyboard settings that provide the accents you use (various French keyboards have specific keys the acute accent for instance). 
 
You can add new keyboard settings in your Control Panel, under Clock, Language and Region, then Region and Languages, then Change keyboard settings or other input methods. 
 
Once this is done, you should have the language bar available in your taskbar on the bottom right of your screen. You can switch keyboard settings at will and Studio will accept whichever you use at the time.

Hi Karin, 
 as I understand, I suppose you are using an English keyboard layout, correct? 
 To insert accented letters and other special characters, if you do not want to activate a different keyboard layout, you may freely use (even in Studio) the combination ALT+[character code] as per the following table:

 Seeing as we're full of good ideas today, have you seen this application? 
 
 I use this with my English Keyboard and it works well for me, albeit not something suitable for fast typers. 
 You can also use the "Insert Symbol" feature in the Advanced Menu of Studio when the Editor is open: 
 
 This is good if you only have a few you need as you can define shortcuts for the top nine.
