  • Hi Fiona,

I doubt the file format has anything to do with this. But we also need to know a little more about what you mean here. You mention TM (Translation Memory) and then you refer to terms (words/phrases you normally put into a Termbase). You also didn't mention the version you are using.

Can you provide a bit more info to help us understand the problem please?

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Dear Paul

The problem occurred with Trados 2014 and I have recently upgraded to 2017. And it happened again.

I create TMs for all my clients.

I do a lot of work for this client and some texts are standard, like copyright notice etc. but I get no

matches when translate a new piece, for instance including the copyright notice.

To check I even put in a word search in the TM, but no hits. So I must be doing something wrong.

When I activate the TM I always tick all the boxes. I don't Multiterm.

    Kind regards

    Fiona
  • Hi Fiona,

Do you add your TMs to the project after creating it, or during the project process? Just wondering whether you are adding TMs and making your settings through File -> Options , as opposed to doing this through Project Settings. If you do the former then this will have no effect on your active project.

Another possibility is that you are using Project TMs when you create your project but don't update your Main TMs when you are done. The result being when you create a new Project your main TM still won't contain the work you did on the previous ones as they are all in your Project TMs. In fact this feels as though it's the more likely culprit. Try activating your old projects and running the Batch task to update your Main TMs.

    Regards
