Studio 2014 Error message when merging TMs: "There are two or more fields with the same name; duplicate field names are not supported"

Question

Hi All. I've been trying to merge 4 TMs into a single new one, in Trados Studio 2014. I add the TMs and chose "Create output TM for each language pair" -- but I get the following message "There are two or more fields with the same name; duplicate field names are not supported". With gradual merging and testing (2+2, 2+1+1) I've concluded the problem stems from one particular TM. Please note that all TMs were originally created by the same client. 
 Following another post's advice, I tried to convert the "problematic" TM into tmx, but SDLTM Convert crashed due to "ERROR: unknown element". 
 Any ideas why this is happening? (I'm not an expert, I must confess) Is there any way I can resolve/bypass this problem and create my TM?

Hello Lito, 
 Just go through the following Steps, all within Studio. So no reason to use an app for this: 
 
 Create a new TM, or pick one of your existing TMs that will be the basis of your new one 
 Export your SDLTMs to TMX. So select them one at a time in the Translation Memories View and export from here: 
 That will give you the TMX files for your TMs. Now import them into the new one you created or the into the one you decided to use as your base: 
 In this process you have this option: 
 
 That would do it I think.

Hi Lito, 
 
If the fields are not important for you then perhaps you could export to TMX and then import the TMX files with the option to igore the fields altogether?
