Overwriting options

Question

I must have inadvertently typed a shortcut so now when I overwrite it erases the source I've copied in the target segment automatically. This means I can't edit the middle of a sentence without having to rewrite/reformulate the entire sentence! What would be the shortcut to invert this function? 
 Also, I am working on TRADOS in Windows Parallel on a Mac with a Mac keyboard... Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks

Hi Marie, 
 What you are referring to is "Overwrite Mode". 
 This is triggered by hitting the insert key which is unavailable on Mac keyboards. 
 I don't own a Mac but a quick google shows that fn+return may trigger the mode.

I'm not sure I completely follow you here. You mean you do this: 
 
- Copy source to target 
- Start editing in the middle of the sentence by selecting some of the text you wish to overwrite 
- The entire segment is overwritten instead of just the bits you select? 
 
If this is what you are doing then perhaps you can elaborate how you are selecting the text? What keyboard combination are you using? I don't know if this will help, but maybe it'll shed a little light on things and spark an idea :-)
