Projects disappearing from Studio 2015 after an update

Hi there, 
 This morning on opening my computer to deliver a project, I was prompted by SDL 2015 to accept an update, which I did (famous last words). On relaunching the software, all of my projects had disappeared from the projects view. I got the following message when attempting to open the project with "Open project": 
 An error occurred whilst trying to determine the file version. Studio 2015 
 So what do I do now? 
 I have restarted my computer, and I have searched the web for solutions. So far, nothing that applies to my situation. 
 Any advice?

Have had similar problems as the amount of data that is synced on our machines is limited - had this issue where it corrupted the Projects.xml file - meaning that I lost my customers list (in my case a list of colleagues I have translated for). My current IT Environment doesn't allow me to set up batch tasks, but in the previous one, my IT Support guy wrote a little widget that I could run from the Task Bar to copy it to a local hard drive to restore it.
