How can I check the context of a string in Studio 2017?

What do you mean by context and what kind of files are these? I could give a few answers but I don't really know what the specific question is you are trying to solve?

I guess you could use the preview and this may show it? You could also create a custom preview using stylesheets to show just the SID if that's all you wanted... but how you create this preview very much depends on the filetype. 
 
If it's XML then you have a lot of flexibility since you can just use a stylesheet to format the preview as you see fit. If it's XLIFF then you only have the out of the box preview... which might be suitable, might not. You could also use the API to create custom previews for pretty much anything you wanted.
