Working with balance sheets

Dear all,

I'm working with a Word document with several table cells with just numbers and also with negative numbers between brackets. In order to avoid having to translate those numbers, I'm using the "Excluding number only" filter, but applying that does not hide the segments with numbers between brackets.

This is an example of a part of a table which appears in about 100 pages of my document:

Gastos de comercialización (1)

(3,640,512,643)

(2,512,467,811)

Gastos de administración (1)

(3,668,183,355)

(2,590,759,136)

Otros ingresos y egresos, netos

99,907,085

(638,268)

Costos financieros

(2,934,798,478)

(1,720,839,210)

Otros resultados financieros, netos

(129,638,226)

(9,585,875)

What would you suggest to deal with these types of documents? Is there a way to hide the numbers between brackets? Luckily, I don't have to localize them for my client, so I could just skip them during the translation process in Trados.

Thank you so much!

  • Hi Damián,

I would suggest doing the following:

    1. Enter the following string in the Display Filter and hit enter:
    ^\(*[\d,]+\)*$

    2. Only the segments with numbers should appear.
Next, make sure the very top segment with a number is active by clicking somewhere in the target side.

    3. Scroll down to the very last segment with a number and while holding the shift key, click on the line number.
This should select all the lines with numbers.

    4. Next right-click on the line number and select "Lock segments".
This will lock all the segments with numbers.

After that you can always filter out numbers by selecting "Unlocked" in the filter.
