Icons and some menus so small they are impossible to see

I have a new awesome laptop, running on Windows 10 Pro, but Studio 2017 doesn't display very good at all.

Some of the icons are so small that I have to guess what they are - the same goes for some of the text in the menus.

The recommended resolution on my new laptop is 3840x2160. I tried to change it, but that only resulted in empty space in each side; nothing changed in Studio.

The I read http://kb.sdl.com/#tab:homeTab:crumb:7:artId:4959 and tried Option 1. That didn't changed anything either.

Does Option 3 work for most? I hate to start messing with that if it doesn't make a difference.

Or are we so lucky, that another solution has been found?

TIA

  • Hi Jorien

Sorry to hear you have to go thru the same nightmare as I did. It seems that the article was moved, but I found the new link:

https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0033897  After I posted this reply, I tested the link and it didn't work. If it still doesn't work, go to Knowledge in SDL Support and search for Article Number:000001872.

I ended up also trying option 3 and it didn't help much.
The text in the Termbase windows are still so tiny that it is impossible to read and for that reason I would say that none of the solutions worked for me. Studio doesn't fully function if you can't use/read the Termbase.
When I move the Studio window from the bigger external monitor (which is not 4K) to the laptop display (which is the 4K monitor), Studio becomes microscopic and I have to reboot to be able to see it. You would think that a resolution would be here by now, but apparently not.
I have since had to work a great deal in another program (client request) and there I have no problem switching the view between monitors, etc.
Good luck - I hope it works for you.

    Thanks,
    Dorte
