Studio 2017 Autosuggest dictionary won't load.

Just upgraded from Studio 14 to Studio 17. Autosuggest dictionary built from existing translation memory without a problem, but then when I try to load it I get "Autosuggest dictionary could not be read". Any ideas welcome.

Hi Keith,

Where is your BPM stored? There was an update of the version of SQL that Studio uses which may return an error if a reserved character is followed by another one:

system.data.sqlite.org/.../bbdda6eae2

So using a \\ in the path for example could return this error. Try copying the BPM to a location on your hard drive if you happen to be using a local network for example.

Paul,
Do you know if this will change at any point in the future? In our agency, I prefer to use network paths that start with \\ rather than a local folder. I could also circumvent this by mapping the network folder to a drive, but I'd rather move away from this practice.
I'm able to use \\ network paths for all other location settings in Studio 2017.

May I ask why won't you map the drives? In Office for example only mapped drives with network aliases can be added as secure storage locations. And mapped drives are for me much more convenient in use...

May I ask why won't you map the drives? In Office for example only mapped drives with network aliases can be added as secure storage locations. And mapped drives are for me much more convenient in use...

Good question! I used to for almost 2 decades despite my IT department questioning the practice. In the end, they were right: it spoiled our users to the point where they don't know the "real" path, leaving them stranded if, for some reason, the mapping gets lost. Also, users connecting from remote locations via VPN often lose their mappings temporarily and that causes the TMs to be disabled in the project they are working on. This then affects all other users on the same project. I've slowly switched everything to \\ and have had much more success.
I don't think secure storage is an issue in this case, since we are on a corporate network with its own security and backups.

Thanks. I see your reasons and understand exactly, why I use mapped drives.
In our case the only user are my wife and myself. No one is accessing TMs/TBs on local shares, all such resources are stored locally inour PCs. Due to our way of working this is a good solution, but of course not applicable to other scenarios.
I asked just out of curiosity and in order to learn something new.
