XLIFF File export in SDL Studio 2009

Hi all,

I'm using SDL Trados Studio 2009 and I face some issues with the WordPress XLIFF translation file exported from our new website. First of all, XLIFF are not recognized and I have to change the extension to XLF to be recognized while importing files. However it seems that I can change this behaviour in the File Types settings.

My problem is after having importing the XLIFF file (renamed into XLF), translate it and release it, I export it and then import it to my website. When it is imported to the website, all translated texts are doubled. Is there any setting I need to tweak so that the translated files are correctly exported.

I attached two files: the original file from the website and the exported file from Trados after translation.

Thanks for your help!

Regrad,

Nicolas F.

  • Hello Nicolas,

I don't have 2009 installed so can't tell you 100%, but I reckon this is to do with you using the option to store segmentation in the target XLIFF.  In 2017 it would be this one:

The default probably stores it.  So make sure you prepare the file when you create the project with this option enabled to NOT store this information.  Turning it off now won't help, you'll need to create the project again using this option and then pretranslate the file from your TM.

If it's not this then it might be a bug and the only resolution now will be to upgrade as we won't be fixing 2009 anymore.

    Regards
