Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 1, Position 25.

I am trying to convert and upload my French and German term bases created in Atril Déjà Vu to SDL Multiterm. I first exported the DV files to Excel and then used Glossary Converter to convert them to sdltb files, but when I try to load these into SDL Multiterm I get the following error message: "Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 1, Position 25." I am a relatively new user of Trados, so may be missing something obvious to more experienced users. Grateful for any assistance. Geoff

Ignore. I believe this error is a non-issue. In what sense? In that it does not apply to anything. I tried to open a number of termbases from the Termbase Management pane and clicking on "Load" within the Catalog Actions of the ribbon. You will always get the same error, regardless. Why? It depends on what you have selected. If it is on top of the list, i.e. the termbase name, or even without no open termbase, and you press "Load" you get "Load termbase from file", and when you try to open ANY termbase, you get the error in question ("Invalid character..."). What does "Load termbase from file" mean in the first place? It does not make a lot of sense. However, if you select a specific item, say, "Definition" or "Layouts", etc. then the "Load" function will actually work, at least showing the right type of file (.xdt, .xdl, etc). On the other hand, to open a termbase you simply go to the Home tab and click on the "Open Termbase" icon. That shouldn't be a problem. Again this is an error that is not documented and does not make sense at all.
