File type in WorldServer package (Word 2000-2003) not available in Studio 2021

Dear Community,

A vendor reports that the file type included with the WorldServer package (in this case a customized Word 2000-2003) is not available in Studio. I tested on my PC and can confirm that it is NOT available in Studio 2021 but is in Studio 2019.

Is there an additional tweek needed in Studio 2021 beyond installing the app from the App Store that allows WorldServer packages to be used?

Screenshots attached.Screenshot of Trados Studio message window showing no errors or warnings.File explorer window showing a list of files within a WorldServer package, including 'URL.txt', 'settings.xml', and 'FileTypeInfo.xml'.File explorer window displaying a single file named 'Word_2000-2003_v.1.0.0.0_WS_Bayer_Word_2000-2003'.Error message in Trados Studio stating the file was created using a file type definition that does not exist on the system.

  • Hi Dave,

the Word 2000-2003 File Type is deprecated in WorldServer 11.3 and has been replaced by the Microsoft Word 97-2003 File Type. We strongly recommend that you use the Microsoft Word 97-2003 File Type for your projects (the same applies to other file types such as the Word 2007-2013, PowerPoint and Excel 2000-2003 and 2007-2013). Once of the reasons for the deprecation is that the old, deprecated file types have been removed from Studio 2019 SR2 and 2021. You will still be able to open a WSXZ package created out of a project, but you will not be able to run a tag verification or create a target file out of the SDLXLIFF bilingual file included in the WSXZ package. We strongly recommend to stop using deprecated filters and use only non-deprecated filters, especially for Office formats. I have created this article about this topic. I hope this help you!
