Where did the Content Importer put my translated content

This seems like it must be an incredibly stupid question.

I'm on Tridion Docs v.14 and I just used the Export Translation > off to a translation service > Import Translated content using the Content Importer for the first time.

The Content Importer assures me that I successfully imported the translated content, but I haven't got a clue where to look for it in the repository. I've combed the SDL docs looking for something that doesn't already assume that I see it in front of me without success.

Where's the interface for looking at and working with the translated content?

Thanks,
Jeff.

  • Ok, I see the resources now. I was looking at the Publication object and expecting to see some way of working with the content there. Clearly going to have to go through the docs again.

  • If you need to re-export the topics for any reason from the CMS, I think the easiest way is to do it through the web UI. Here are our instructions:

Exporting Publication Objects from the CMS
You cannot export a publication object itself, but you can batch export all of the maps, topics, images, and other resources contained in the publication. Export the contents of a publication using the Publication Report.

1 Using the web interface, navigate to the publication in question, then select the version in the bottom pane.
2 Click the Reports icon in the middle pane.
3 In the Last Publishing Report, select the language of the publication that you are investigating if needed, then click Show Report.
4 From the Publication Report window, click Export Publication. This zips up and exports the objects in the report to the InfoShare\Data\ExportService \Data\DataExports folder on the server that houses the exported items.
5 In the Publication Export window, click Refresh several times until you see a message in the last row that says Event handling ended.
6 Higher up in the report, look for the name of the exported zip file (it will look something like this: ExportPublication-GUID-3753911D-368E-4A2BAAAD-3EA4A8A3FB4A-v1.20081110214730762.zip).
7 In Windows Explorer, browse to find the InfoShare\Data\ExportService\Data\DataExports folder on the server, locate the file you just exported, and copy it to your hard drive.

Also, be very careful with version control with your translators. If you import a localized topic that you got from them, and then make edits on your end, and then re-import another version of the same topic from them, the import process will overwrite the version with your edits in it. Good luck!
