Possible to unfreeze a Publication baseline?

Historically we haven't frozen Publication baselines in Tridion Docs, but recently one was frozen and wouldn't ya know it, there are a few objects that require further updates. I think the answer is baselines can't be "unfrozen" and we'll have to create new object versions and start a new Translation Job. We're on Tridion Docs r14.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Hey Paul.

Freezing a baseline or releasing a publication output cannot be undone. Also not by an admin user. Because this is a feature ensuring data integrity in case of an audit.

That said, it's quite easy to resolve: you should create a new version of that publication (or a branch in case there already is a higher version). In that new version, you make the changes you want to make. The baseline will reflect this. And when the components are released, you can create a new translation job which will only pick up the updated items (topics, libraries, maps). It's good practice to indicate in the "Changes" field why you created a new version of the publication.
