You can try the Search functionality in the Publication Manager.

So open the publication in the Publication Manager application.
Select Edit > Search... from the menubar (or use the Ctrl+F keyboard shortcut)
Set the 'Look in' dropdown value towards 'Current Publication'
Provide the chunk of DITA to search for in the 'Find what' box. Do keep in mind that we you surround the text with " characters it will search for all words of the full DITA structure. Without the quotes it might search for each string after splitted by space character.

In general, you can go two routes...

1. Really download the file and parse the xml content yourself. This is exact but can be quite time consuming depending how much your initial filter criteria really limit the result set. In API and ISHRemote terminology I usually call this a "Find" operation.
2. Using the Full-Text-Index (Solr based) might be faster but it cannot be exact as finding xml hierarchies is not what a full text index is about. In API and ISHRemote terminology I usually call this a "Search" operation. We made the full text index "xml-aware" so that you can query for xml-element names, xml-attribute names and xml-attribute values... we documented some best practices on TD14SP4 - Search for content
