I've searched the help and poked through every aspect of the interface I can find, but no dice. When I'm using a shared computer, how do I bring a hard close to the end of my session?

I do it by deleting cookies.
In chrome, chrome://settings/siteData lets you search for a host name. Then clicking delete deletes the cookies. After that I get the login screen.
Currently, in the Tridion Docs Content Manager (Web Client) there is no log-out button. You are not missing anything; exiting the browser is one way.
A log-out feature on the product roadmap for a future release.
Well, did not see that coming. Exiting the browser does not, in fact, reliably close the session. Chrome in particular seems to persist credentials between browser sessions.
Looking forward to being able to log out reliably.
