Kindly allow me to let you know why the sad face emoji appears. 
The sad emoji face is part of an integrated functionality called "Sentiment" labels. It is a functionality meant to rate the sentiment/feeling of a written reply. Therefore, it appears on every post and reply within a forum thread.
The reason we implemented this functionality is because we want to have a positive experience for everyone on the platform, hence the way that everyone addresses each other becomes of the utmost importance.
