We have a new colleague starting, and the update of our servers to 15.2. is planned for August (Dev) and end of August/September for Prod.
Can the new client tools for 15.2 be used already, while the server is behind? Then the new colleague can use the new version straight away and doesn't need to uninstall and install everything again in 6 weeks.
(we are working on a better solution to avoid the manual uninstall/install to upgrade)

Regarding your case, when customers are upgrading Client Tools before the Content Manager Server.
Client Tools with a newer released version will work with a Content Manager Server of an older version.
However, new functionality in Client Tools might not work since it is disabled via feature flags because Content Manager is missing the required capabilities.
Client Tools with a lower released version are not supported on the newer Content Manager Server.

I'm just conducting an evaluation for the TD15.1.2 server and TD15.2 client tools combination. I'm not sure whether this issue is caused by the TD15.1.2 custom configuration for our company, but images don't display in the Publication Manager, as shown in the screenshot below.
However, if I select the image, it displays properly.
Since we'll be upgrading TD to 15.2.0 within a couple of months, this is not a critical issue, but I wonder why this is happening.
