Idea Delivered

This idea has now been fully delivered with Trados Studio 2022 SR1. You now have the choice between a progress bar based on words and/or segments. See release notes for more information.

Please go back to Progress Bar focusing on words not segments

Parents
  • I have just stumbled on this thread - I was wondering why the progress bar in the files view appeared to be incorrect. At least it explains it, but don't see the logic and agree with other posters here. Were there any complaints about the supposed "bug" in all the previous versions? Given that segments vary widely in word count/length, especially in documents with tables of figures, the number of segments is not a realistic measure of progress.

  • Were there any complaints about the supposed? And where are the supporters?

  • The problem with this progress bar has been reported since 2017 by our customers through their support contract.  It's taken this long for us to prioritise the work.  I think we have explained quite enough why we have done this, and I doubt anyone happy with this change will ever come here since people only really do this when they have a problem!  I'm also not going to list all the companies and users who have raised this as a problem until now.

If you don't like the change, all two or three of you, and if you won't even take the time to explain why the five other ways you have to handle this won't work for you then don't expect much support.

Having said this we are going to organise an opportunity for anyone interested to speak directly to our development teams about the new Manager View that you can access in Trados Studio 2022 and this would be the perfect opportunity to voice your opinion directly to our development teams and on a topic you haven't offered any opinion to date.  I will be sure to bring this opportunity to the attention of everyone who posted in this idea so you can have your say.  But please do have a think about why you have to have this particular feature working exactly as it did before and cannot accept any other solution even when it will provide you with what you're looking for.
