  • The Secret Workhorse

I found an interesting article that combines my 2 favorite surbjects: Horses and Perl.

And many of the things said in this articles actually apply just as well to XPP!

  • Shift + F10

What could there possibly be to say about using Shift + F10 in XPP?

Not much, unless it suddenly stops doing what it does, which is to insert the special XPP tag brackets. So, if you like a bit of a puzzle, don't read too far ahead.

What could make Shift + F10 not work, assuming nothing else has changed in your XPP environment?

In my case, I had another software application running in the background. It turned out…

  • ArialUnicode and XPP

ArialUnicodeMS is sort of the mother lode of fonts. It's a font intended to support the Unicode character set, which is basically the world.

But it's a BIG font file, and that has presented some problems. Adobe Acrobat Distiller can't handle a font with more than 16,000 characters. And for other technical reasons, the Ghostscript PDF converter delivered with XPP is also unable to handle this font the way XPP presents…

  • XPP 9.1 !

XPP 9.1 has been released. It's crazy how much stuff is packed into this one.

There is, I think, something for everyone, whether you are “classic”, XML or CSS, whether you are interactive or black-box. Details are, of course, in the release notes and documentation. Here are some new things. It's a long list!!

    • Change bars for graphics in pickups. Look for a new field in the Job Ticket to enable/disable…
  • Check notifications settings (the short story)

Once you have gone through your profile settings and have verified that you have allowed emails from the SDL community site, there is a shorter way to change the notifications you get from the XyUser Forum.

Go the the XyUser Group page and select the Forum entry (second entry)

You should get the following page:

Now click on the little wheel next to filter button and if your notifications are on you will see:

  • How to check your email notification settings (the long story)

Just like with our good old listserv you might want to configure things so that receive an email notification when new things are happening on our XyUser Forum page.

The first things you should check is if email notifications in general are allowed for your profile.
You do this by clicking on your profile picture (top left of the screen).

    Now select the 'Settings'

You will be shown a page like:

    The first setting…

  • In case of trouble

If you have a general problem or question regarding the functionality of this site, the best place to look is under 'Conversations'/'Community Conversations'/'Community Feedback'

If you have a more specific problem or you want to report a bug, you can send an email to community@sdl.com

  • Where to ask your XPP question...

The best place to ask your XPP question in this group is in the Forum.

Members can subscribe to the email notification for this Forum so that they get an email for every activity in the Forum.
Which makes it work more or less like our old listserv (except that you can not respond by email)
