Trados Business Manager – End of Life Announcement

Trados Business Manager (TBM) has reached end of life. Following the discontinuation of TBM sales on 31 October 2023, all maintenance and support services will conclude on 31 October 2024.
What Does This Mean for TBM Users?

  • End of Services: RWS will no longer provide any services related to the installation or updating of TBM.
  • Existing Installations: TBM will remain functional where already installed, but the RWS support team will not offer assistance in troubleshooting issues, addressing reported problems, or providing further development for TBM.
  • Documentation: The TBM documentation has been removed from docs.rws.com.
  • Community Support: The community forum for TBM will remain accessible in a read-only format for users to reference if needed.

Database backup and restore in Essential version

Essential version of TBM 6 uses local database, which is stored in a single file (named tbmdb.sqlite). By default, you can find this file under resources\bin\database folder inside application installation folder.

Create backup

  1. Launch application
  2. Click Create backup button on the top toolbar:
  3. Optionally, open Settings, switch to the Application settings, p1 tab and check Enable backup box, to enable automatic backups.
  4. Customer logos and vendor photos are stored in the InstallationFolder\\resources\bin\wwwroot\logos folder. This folder must be copied manually.

Restore backup

This procedure is manual, and includes the following steps:

  1. Determine where your database file is stored. If you use non-default location, you can view it by hovering mouse pointer over  icon in the bottom left corner.
  2. Close the application.
  3. Find your backup file, copy it to the database location.
  4. Delete your current database file.
  5. Rename copied backup to tbmdb.sqlite.
  6. Copy backed up logos folder to a corresponding location of the installed software.
  7. Start application to confirm that you see data from a backup.
