I am running into the exact same problem.  I purchased Studio 2019 on May 12 and activated it.  Suddenly, I cannot run it anymore with the message "Evaluation expired (37)".   Please fix this!!   It is unacceptable.

Delete the Studio.lic file in this location and restart Studio:

C:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio15\Data

If that doesn't help please log a case.

You have two options:

1. Submit a case using a webform
2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the second option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.

I just wanted to say that I logged in a case, but since it was Saturday, nobody had replied by Sunday afternoon. However, on Sunday afternoon I was able to chat with a SDL agent who reset the license for me. The operator said that there is a limited number of activation/deactivation a user can do (I think he said 3 times), then it is blocked by default and must be unlocked by manual intervention of SDL. 

When the SDL agent reset my license, I lost the Extra Activation that was available previously. This means that every time I need to switch from Desktop to Laptop I am using one of those 3 times of automatic activation/deactivation. So, I am not happy with either the policy on activation/deactivation and the change of available activations in my account.

Hi Hannah Doyle 

The above two solutions are very simple.

If the first doesn't work, then you don't have to log a support ticket, you can get quickly get free help when installation hasn't worked properly. It takes minutes to do the above...

One point that may be relevant is that if you've used a trial version of Studio before, even a previous version, and let it run its full time, your PC will remember that and trigger the expiry message.

Hi Ali, thanks for your swift reply! I don't have a specific '.lic' file in that location, a search for that extension brings up loads and loads of different files. I have talked to an agent via live chat but they've just put me through the support ticket log process. Which apparently takes two working days. I just think if you're going to pump out upgrade after upgrade and that's your cash cow, you better have a slick bump-free trial process. I mean, when all you want to do is test something out, it's kind of a pain to have to waste time going back and forth with a support team over a 48-hour period just to try it.

Sorry, I was rushing, I should have read Paul's message through. He was presenting the solution to resetting an existing license, which isn't the case here.

Normally you should be able to download and run the trial version with no problem.

As I said, if you've run a previous trial version till it expired there may be an issue but it isn't the default setting that you can't. I think it's a bug that just happens to some people. It happened to me when I was beta testing the first beta of Studio 2019... At the time I discussed it with other beta testers and they hadn't all experienced the same symptoms, I was the only one... I'm sure if it were an easy thing to fix, they'd have sorted it then...

I hope you'll find that the most recent version of Studio 2019 is worth the wait. I certainly did

Okay, so I'm a complete idiot. Turns out I downloaded this 2019 trial before. Shame for me, because I have absolutely no recollection of doing so, so I must have downloaded it thinking "Ooh, I must try this", and then the months went by and I forgot all about it. Kicking myself! I'm going to have to blind buy

There are videos on that page that you can watch to get a taste of the new functionality in Studio 2019. When you install, some of these videos will be signposted by a dialogue that opens at the same time as Studio.
