Cannot deactivate my license

Hello,

I just tried to replace my Trados Studio 2021 Freelance license (Trados Studio 2021 SR2 - 16.2.12.9338) by my new Trados Studio 2024 Freelance Plus license. But I cannot deactivate my 2021 license. I strongly suspect this is because I activated my new license first, but don't know how to solve this.

These are the steps I took:

  1. Activated my new license in my account
  2. Opened Studio
  3. Help --> Product activation --> Deactivate --> Yes
  4. The following message appeared: "Login for this product key has been restricted. Contact the system administrator for assistance."
  5. Clicked OK to close the message window.
  6. However, then the message appeared that "The product license has been deactivated and Trados Studio will now exit. To start Trados Studio again, you must activate the product."
  7. Opened Trados Studio again, went to Help - Product activation. The 2021 license had not been deactivated, so I cannot activate the 2024 license.

I then tried to deactivate offline, but I cannot find the Installation ID I would need for that and I'm not sure this is the right solution anyway. 

Could anyone please help?

    that I only see Studio 2021, nothing has changed. It would be nice to be able to switch between Studio 2021 Freelance and Studio 2024 Freelance Plus, but I only HAVE 2021 on my pc, whereas I have purchased an upgrade to 2024, activated it in my account and now just want to work in Studio 2024. This is still my (only) Studio version

    Have you installed it?  It's a different application.  Upgrading the licence doesn't automatically install 2024.

    Go to your "Downloads" in your account... scroll down a little, or filter on the upgrade, and you'll see this:

    Download Trados Studio and install it; download MultiTerm and install it.

    Now you should be able to use your activation code in the 2024 activation field once you install it.

    But don't uninstall 2021... leave it there!  No need to get rid of it until you're sure you don't need it anymore, or you move computers.
