I keep getting asked to log in to a GroupShare server even when working on unrelated offline projects

Since I upgraded to Studio 2024, I have had the following problem:

Whenever I open Studio to work on an offline project, I inevitably get a Log-in window that pops up, asking for my login and password to a GroupShare server that I sometimes have to use for one of my clients.

I understand being asked to log in when actually accessing that server, but it is really annoying still having to log in when working on an unrelated, offline project.

My worry is also that if the GroupShare licence for the incriminated server came to be revoked by my client, I would end up being unable to work on offline projects for other clients.

I have tried deleting all the GroupShare projects from my project list so I only have offline projects left, but that did not solve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using, and any error messages you may have received. Also, let us know if there have been any recent changes to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with Trados Studio 2024 where you're being asked to log in to a GroupShare server even when working on unrelated offline projects. This could be due to a number of reasons, but let's try a few troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Ensure you're using the latest version of Trados Studio. You can check for updates within the application by going to Help -> Check for Updates.

Step 2: Check your server settings. Go to File -> Setup -> Servers and ensure that the GroupShare server is not set as your default server. If it is, change it to 'None'.

Step 3: Clear your cache. Go to Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Files and Folders and click on 'Clear Cache'.

Step 4: If the issue persists, you may need to reinstall Trados Studio. Before doing so, make sure to back up your settings and projects.

Please note that these are general troubleshooting steps and may not resolve your issue. If the problem persists, it would be helpful to know the exact version of Trados Studio you're using, any error messages you've received, and any recent changes to your system or software.

    Hello,

Thank you for providing the additional information. If you can't see any reference to a default server in File -> Setup -> Servers, it's possible that the issue might be related to local Trados GroupShare connection information. Here's how you can reset it:

    Step 1: Close Trados Studio.

    Step 2: Navigate to C:\Users\%User Name%\App Data\Roaming\SDL\

Step 3: Rename the 'Platform' folder to 'Platform_OLD'.

Step 4: Open Trados Studio and add the server connections.

Please note that these steps will reset your local Trados GroupShare connection information. If the problem persists, it would be helpful to know any error messages you've received, and any recent changes to your system or software.

  • I did exactly as instructed and that did not solve the problem. In fact, it didn't reset my GroupShare connection information.

To answer your question, I don't get an error message and the  only recent changes to my system/software was upgrading to Studio 2024 a few months ago.

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that the previous steps didn't resolve your issue. It seems like the problem might be more complex. Here are a few more steps you can try:

Step 1: Try to disconnect from the internet and then open Trados Studio 2024. This can help us determine if the issue is related to the GroupShare server connection.

Step 2: If the issue persists, you might need to reinstall Trados Studio 2024. Please make sure to back up your settings and projects before doing so.

Step 3: If reinstalling doesn't help, it might be a compatibility issue with your operating system. Please ensure that your operating system is compatible with Trados Studio 2024.

Please note that these are general troubleshooting steps and may not resolve your issue. If the problem persists, it would be helpful to know more about your system, such as the operating system and its version, and whether you have tried reinstalling Trados Studio 2024.

It looks as though you're having two separate conversations with yourself so I'll close this thread and we can focus on this one:
