TM export fails: No CultureInfo is available for provided language code 'de-de'. (Parameter 'source')

Hi,

We are having trouble exporting our server-based TMs to TMX to share them with others. The export window gets stuck here:

Screenshot of Trados Studio export window showing a stalled process with the message 'Exporting translation memory to tmx file' and 'Exported 0 translation units'.

There is no error message in Trados itself, but GroupShare gives us this message:

No CultureInfo is available for provided language code 'de-de'. (Parameter 'source')

Screenshot of GroupShare error log with multiple 'FAILED' statuses for tasks related to 'Translation Memory', timestamps indicating failures occurred on Tue, Apr 08, 2025.

Any help would be appreciated!

Best regards,

Katharina

Trados version: Trados Studio 2024 - 18.0.1.2259 and Trados Studio 2024 - 18.0.2.3255 (doesn't work for either of them)

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about the steps you have taken to resolve the issue, any recent changes to the system or software, and the operating system you are using.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Katharina,

The error message you're seeing suggests that the language code 'de-de' is not recognized. This could be due to a configuration issue in Trados Studio or Trados GroupShare.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check the language settings in Trados Studio and Trados GroupShare. Make sure that the language code 'de-de' is correctly configured in both applications.

Step 2: If the language settings are correct, try updating Trados Studio and Trados GroupShare to the latest versions. This can be done within the applications themselves.

Step 3: If the issue persists, you may need to manually add the 'de-de' language code to the Sdl.TMService.Agent.exe.config and Sdl.TMService.Host.exe.config files. These files can be found in the C:\Program Files\SDL\SDL Server\TMService directory. Please make sure to backup these files before making any changes.

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact RWS Support for further assistance.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • Update: rebooting the server seems to have done the trick, but it would be nice to know if we can solve this problem without having to reboot each time.
