Inconsistent translations: how to find the strings affected

Hi,

After the Check All Strings review, a series of strings appear marked with error 115: Inconsistent translation.

How can I find the other strings that the system uses to yield this error?

I have tried searching for the string content (Ctrl F), but I cannot find any other strings with the same source content. So, I wonder: inconsistent with regards to what and where are the affected strings?

What a riddle! Maybe you can help me solving it :-)

Thanks a lot in advance,

Rocío

  • There are 2 different inconsistency checks in Passolo.

    • The one that is reporting error 115 is the Inconsistent translation check, and it is checking each translated string entry against connected TMs. If a translation of the string entry is not found as a 100% match in the connected TM, this error will be reported.
    • Error 117 is the Inconsistent translation in project check, and it is checking each translated string entry against all other equal strings in the project. If the translation of equal strings differ, this error will be reported.

Please note that these checks can be quite time-consuming.

To fix inconsistency errors, I would suggest to open up all the translations lists from all modules and then apply the Replicates filter. This will easily show which entries are translated inconsistently.

Screenshot showing Trados Studio with a list of string entries marked 'for review'. An error icon with code 4489 indicates an inconsistency in translation for 'Country, Zip, city'.

  • Dear all,

    Many thanks for your help.

I have sorted alphabetically after applying the filter for replicates. This is helping. Thank you so much. However, it does not always work. For instance, sometimes there is only 1 string or the 2 strings seem to be ok. (see attached image).

I do not know what "layout preview" is or how to disable it. Could you please let me know?

Nils, how do you spot the term in question? Our strings contain sometimes quite a bit of text and Passolo does not highlight the affected terms.

Achim, I do not quite understand, why replicated strings are not updated, when I change the master string. Unter Translation helpers / replicates, I have chosen "Translate replicates automatically without prompt."

    Kind regards,

    Rocío
