I am not able to log in to Language Weaver

Hi all,

Since yesterday I can't log in to Language Weaver, even if I am logged in while working with Trados.

I have already updated the plugin, tried to use the option "single log in", but there's no chance to use it anymore!

Also, Trados Studio 2021 still crashes without notice, even not so frequently than before.

I feel so frustrated that I also tried to upgrade my Trados Studio Freelance Plus licence yesterday, but I got a problem when paying it: I don't have any details to pay it by bank transfer.

Any help would be very appreciated.

    Sounds like you have a wave of issues that we best tackle as directly as possible.

    1: Language Weaver log in

    Can you log in to your language Weaver portal: https://portal.languageweaver.com/login

    If no, then that clarifies the app status and we will need to direct you to the right team for help.

    If you can, then we can try remove some of the bin files that are created when accessing Language Weaver / machine translation.
    They are found here: C:\Users\lsimplicio\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17
    Once removed, restart Studio

    2. Studio Crashing

    Have you tried to follow the steps as outlined here

    You're right! I'm not very lucky lately with Trados...


    That's why I'm going to upgrade from 2021 to 2022, and see if I can get rid of all these problems... I hope so!


    Yes, I managed to log in with my Language Weaver credentials.


    I'll follow the steps you indicate and let you know.


    About the crashing, yes, I did. It has improved with those steps, but it keeps doing the same thing sometimes, and I have to close Trados with the help of Windows Task Manager and then open it again.

    I do hope the removal of the bin files help further.

    With regards to Studio crashing, I am glad it has improved somewhat. Keen your eye on it and if it becomes an ongoing issue please do post for help so we can assist further.

    I upgraded from Trados Studio FL Plus 2021 to 2022. I thought it would solve the Language Weaver problem, but I was wrong.


    I have installed the plugin several times, uninstalled all the MT plugins I had (on Trados and on the hard drive) and whenever I want to add "Language Weaver" nothing appears. I've downloaded them from RWS App Store, and from the option Addins in Trados, but nothing helps.

    The first time, a message appeared saying that "The translation provider Language Weaver could not be opened and has been disabled".
    I can't use anything...

    If I click on "Language WEaver Machine Translation" and then "Language Weaver", it redirects me to the RWS Downloads page. It doesn't seem to recognise the already installed plugin.

    If anyone has a solution for this, I thank you :)

    If you review the release notes with SR1 you will see there were some fairly major breaking changes that affect the use of the APIs. Not all developers have updated their plugins yet. So the best approach is to delete everything you have in these folders:

    %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    Then restart Studio and reinstall them via the integrated AppStore in Trados Studio. This way you will only install the ones that will actually work with SR1. If your apps are not in the list yet then contact the developer via the support link at https://appstore.rws.com/ for the app in question (every developer has some form of contact details) and ask them to update their apps for SR1.

    The Language Weaver app has been updated so this should solve your problem.

  • I had nothing in that folder (c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins) and installed the plugin via the integrated AppStore in Trados Studio.

    The same thing happens: I click on  "Language Weaver Machine Translation" and then "Language Weaver", it redirects me to the RWS Downloads page.

    If you want to add the Language Weaver MT provider that you already installed then you select it here:

    I agree the provider you selected could be a bit smarter and recognise if you have already got one installed already!

    The thing is that if I click on "Language Weaver" nothing happens.

    On the other hand, if I click on "Language Weaver Machine Translation", I get 2 options: "Language Weaver" and "Language Weaver Edge" and by selecting one of those two options, it takes me to RWS App Store.

    I'm sorry for any confusion...
