How to update a Cloud project with files changed locally in Studio?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but I can't find anything...

The situation:

  • Cloud project created with a number of target languages. After the project is published and the initial steps are completed and the files in the Translation stage, someone discovers that we have done very similar files before.
  • PM assigns the files to himself before the vendor starts.
  • PM then opens the files in Studio to PerfectMatch. The process completes successfully, and the target files are now to a large extent translated.
  • At this point, we want to upload/synchronize the locale files back to the cloud project, but we have yet to find an option to accomplish that. The only way we have found is to complete the translation task, but that does not help because there is still work to be done by the vendor.

This is not a small project, so any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi Burckhardt.

When you do the PerfectMatch, are you working on the files in the Cloud project? If so, the changes should sync automatically to the cloud when you save the file. They usually do for me anyway.
If you've opened the xliffs outside the Cloud project in Studio, I'd say there are two options:

    1. Through the task in your Inbox, select the Upload files option. This allows you to upload the xliffs to the project and if you just select 'Replace' in the last step (rather than Replace & Complete), you can still assign the translation task to the vendor so they can do their bit.

    2. If you complete the translation task, you can simply send it back from the Linguistic Review stage. So click Complete for the Linguistic Review task and select 'Request corrections' instead of 'Approve'. It's not the most elegant solution, but it'll allow your vendor to work on the file ;-)

    Hope this helps!
