Cannot add a Language Cloud custom Engine to a SDL Trados Studio 2017 project

Hi,

I am trying to add my Language Cloud custom engine to my Studio 2017 project, and the only available engine is Baseline.

I trained my engine French → English, and it is self-trained and active.

My project language pair is French (Canada) → English (Canada); could that explain why I cannot find my custom engine?

This is my first time using Language Cloud, so I might have missed a step. I've followed the Custom Engine Guide, and I cannot see what I could have done wrong.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks!

Antonie

  • It was pretty straightforward.

    Train new engine

    • Specified the Name and the Domain of the engine.
    • Specified Source Language and Target Language (French and English)
    • Uploaded the TMX files for training
    • Clicked Start training

It took about 4 or 5 hours before the engine went from "Being Trained" to "Available".

Once available, I clicked on Activate and the engine went to "Self-trained".
Screenshot showing a self-trained custom engine named 'Automobile' for French to English translation marked as 'Active since Apr 05, 2018'.

I went into my Studio project's Projects Settings and clicked on Use and picked SDL Language Cloud Machine Translation from the drop-down menu. I logged in my Language Cloud account and got the settings window and from there all I can access is the Baseline engine.

Does my custom engine need to be transposed to an Adaptative engine?
