Hello.
I just got a message a few days ago saying just what the subject says: "Allowed character limit reached". I have attached a screenshot to make it easier to visualize. It very clearly states there that I should upgrade my subscription or buy a new now, finally giving me a link to click on. When I do, I see very unrealistic numbers like 3,249 language pairs and 1,303,157 words and 49,734 translations. I don't really what those numbers pertain to and I am also at a loss as to why it says my annual subscription will expire in 2 months when I purchased SDL Trados Studio 2021 exactly one year ago tomorrow.
Having said that, I looked and looked and couldn't find any hint as to where I could go to upgrade my subscritpion or buy a new one like the in-app notification suggested. So I have a couple of questions:
1 - Are these numbers accurate? What do 3,249 language pairs mean exactly?
2 - Why is my subscription 2 months longer that I should be?
3 - How am I supposed to get NMT back online if I can't find any menus or even hints that direct me to make any upgrades or new purchases?
I had something very similar happen to me exactly a year ago, which then prompted me to buy the 2021 version.
Hi Gustavo David,
I'm sorry to hear that you could not find proper information to match your professional needs. Allow me please to clarify your questions:

To indeed check your total usage of the free characters from machine translation, please follow the steps provided in this article:
https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000013218
If you reached the max number allowed, this will automatically be renewed after 12 months, since the subscription started. You can check the details of your free subscription in your Machine Translation cloud account.
The numbers you see are for companies mostly, for freelancers there is no other plan -for the time being- apart from the free one.
Gustavo David said:2 - Why is my subscription 2 months longer that I should be?
It should be the subscription of the Trados Live, the cloud-based product.
Gustavo David said:3 - How am I supposed to get NMT back online if I can't find any menus or even hints that direct me to make any upgrades or new purchases?
For freelancers, we have the free plan allowing 7.2 million characters/year, for the time being there is no other plan
Does this clear up things a bit more?
Regards,
It does clear things a lot, Oana, thank you very much.
Basically, however, what you're saying means I can't use NMT untill my subscription is renewed in two months, correct? Is there really no other way at all I can keep using it? If not, is there any alternative to this you can recommend?
Thanks a lot again!
There are other third party translation tools, you can check them here, if you want to decide which subscription best suits your professional needs:

Wish you a lovely weekend!
