Cannot use machine translation although I have cloud-based resources selected

Hi, I'm not able to use the machine translation which in the past always appeared automatically when I was translating a text. I have cloud-based resources enabled but for some reason there are no machine translation suggestions. I haven't used trados for a month or so as I'm fairly new and haven't had much work. Perhaps there is an update I should know about as I've had various other problems with other things even before getting to this stage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've wasted so much time. Thank you!

Chris

  • I have a similar issue. This is the first time I try NMT. I created a local project (not cloud project). I simply follow the training manual for level 1 and choose to use "cloud-based resources" under "Translation Resources". EN is source language and ZH (Chinese Simplified) is the target language. When I open the editor view, nothing is populated. I am surprised since English to Chinese translation should be quite common. I followed the same procedure but changed the target language to Spanish and later Russian, they both worked! This means my process was correct. I then change the target language to Chinese Traditional Taiwan, and it worked! I wonder what target language I should choose to translate into simplified Chinese Mainland. I found it interesting that the term it translates to Chinese Traditional Tawain is specific to Taiwan since Mainland has a slightly diffenet term for OCR. Thank you for your help!
