DeeplL Plugin empty error "!" while using editor / impossible to add a comment while using DeepL

Hi there,
I installed Trados 2017 SR1 (last update) new because of several communication errors occuring while using groupshare.

I work on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

After the new installation, I get empty error message with a yellow "!" sign when I open a translation in editor which is using DeepL Translation Provider (in the project settings under Translation memory and automated translation).
I cannot work. The error message is popping up several times everytime I put the cursor in a line. The only option is to click ok. Then the empty message comes again.
If I remove DeepL from the project settings, the error doesn't occur anymore.

The log file shows these warnings:

Also, since I added the DeepL plugin to Trados, it has become impossible to add a comment in the editor.
If I do add a comment I get the error

reference not set to an instance of an object
when I try to save. It's impossible to save, only to click ok and the file stays unsaved. If I remove the comment, it's possible to save.

Do you have any idea what is going wrong?

I am aware it might be several problems. I don't understand what could be missing.

I already renamed the files in

c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\
e:\System\Dokumente\Studio 2017\

It did not solve the problems. Neither did the new installation.

Added code to a code block to save screenspace.

Try resetting Studio and then reinstall your plugins.  You won't lose your projects or any work doing this.

Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

  • Sorry Paul,
Now I see, DeepL Plugin has been disabled in the existing projetcs while deinstalling and reinstalling it.
If I enable it in the project settings, the error occurs again.

Also, if I create a new project using the DeepL plugin, it is not possible to pre-translate. The same error appears more than 50 times! I gues once per segment.

Has anyone a solution for the problem?

  • OK. Now I deleted DeepL from the project template or settings (for existing projects) and added it again. The error doesn't occur anymore.
It's weird. But it worked. I hope it's staying that way. I wonder why the error came in the first place.
