Installed Language Weaver and can't make Trados Studio start again

Hi,

I have a Freelancer Plus license, versionTrados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.6.16252 for my PC and laptop. I recently added the Language Weaver plugin to my PC without issues. Yesterday, I decided to do the same for my laptop.

I THINK I made the same moves as with the PC, but when I tried to add MT to a project, the program asked me to download Language Weaver, as if I hadn’t done it already. I thought that probably I had made a mistake and so downloaded LW again… with the apparently well-known issue of

I then clicked on the Knowledge Base and have so far

  • Renamed the PlugIn folder to PlugIn_old
  • Removed

    %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins
    c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    (but didn’t reinstall anything)
  • Uninstalled Trados Studio and installed it again.
  • Eventually (honestly can’t remember everything I’ve done by now) got a new error message
  • Clicked on Knowledge Base again, Checked for updates according to instructions, updated Windows and restarted my laptop several times.

When it still didn’t work, I tried this one

Resolution
1. Close Trados Studio.
2. Go to:
for Trados Studio 2022: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Platform\Identity\SDLTradosStudio.exe and rename the folder SdlIdentityCredentials into SdlIdentityCredentials_old.
3. Restart Trados Studio.

Here I got the error message

I also tried searching for the folder SdlIdentityCredentials on my laptop but to no avail.

I am the first to admit that I am so NOT a hacker, so at the moment I have no idea where I should go from here?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Alessandra

I think you need a proper cleanup and reset.

    Clean install... try the following.

    1. Uninstall Studio
    2. Uninstall MultiTerm

Now manually delete these folders if they are still there (back up your TMs, Termbases, AutoSuggest Dictionaries and Projects first in case you make a mistake):

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\TradosStudio2022\
    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\MultiTermDesktop2022\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm17\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2022\Project Templates\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2022\Projects\projects.xml

I think that's about it for a clean install. Then reinstall.
