SDL MultiTerm 2017 SR1-14.1.2471.5 has a serious defect

SDL MultiTerm 2017-SR1-14.1.2460.4 (the SR1 version containing the most recent update, installed on Windows 10 64-bit or on Windows 8 64-bit)) shows the Windows rotating ring "O" (not responding) after an English-US term beginning with the letters "zwitt" is searched using Normal Search, or Fuzzy Search or Full Text Search, and, then, selected with the mouse.

The said defect is very upsetting because it is necessary to close the "SDL MultiTerm 2017-SR1-14.1.2460.4", and it makes "SDL Trados Studio 2017-SR1 (including the most recent update)" unstable (not-responding), when the said term is searched in Trados 2017 SR1's Termbase Search Window on Editor View and, then, selected.

It is surprising that the said defect that did not exist on "SDL MultiTerm 2017-14.0.2094.0" (non-SR1), is a new "bug" in the SDL MultiTerm 2017-SR1-14.1.2460.4 (both the first SR1 version, and the SR1 version containing the most recent update)!

Based on the fact that SDL Trados Studio 2017/SDL MultiTerm 2017 Desktop is a very expensive software including a very expensive "Premium Software Maintenance - Service Level 1", it would be expected that the said software should be very "robust", that it could work fine on Windows 10 64-bit or on Windows 8 64-bit. Each new version or update has shown very useful new resources, but has shown new "bug" too.

I hope that the SDL Development Team will fix the said bug as soon as possible because SDL Trados Studio 2017/SDL MultiTerm 2017 Desktop has all the resources to be considered the best Computer Aided Translation tool on the market.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.
Best regards,

  • Hi ,

I'd like to suggest two things perhaps. The first is that you update to the latest versions of the software as the version you mention is not the latest:

    SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.6329.7
    SDL MultiTerm 2017 SR1 - 14.1.2471.5

It's important you update both Studio and MultiTerm and if you still have the same problem after that please log a case through your support contract so that the support team can determine whether it is a bug in Studio/MultiTerm or the result of some clash with something on your computer perhaps.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Dear Paul Filkin

Thank you very much for your suggestion!

I recognize that SDL Trados Studio 2017/SDL MultiTerm 2017 Desktop, is perhaps, the best Computer Aided Translation tool on the market.

It is a very expensive software including the "SDL Language Solutions Support - PSMA Level 1 Desktop" too

It is surprising that a so expensive software has shown "bugs", some of them are not fixed as soon as possible by the very skilled SDL Development Team, and cause instability problems in SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1/SDL MultiTerm 2017 Desktop SR1 (including all the most recent updates).

Unfortunately the said defect is really a problem in SDL MultiTerm 2017 SR1 (and in all its most recent updates too), that was not fixed yet by the very skilled SDL Development Team.

The said defect was not occurring in SDL MultiTerm 2017 (non-SR1)!

It is not possible to work with SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 (including all its most recent updates) because the said defect in SDL MultiTerm 2017 SR1 (and in all its most recent updates too) causes an instability in SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 (including all its most recent updates).

The "SDL MultiTerm 2017 SR1 - 14.1.2471.5", according to the information of Paul Tudoran [SDL Support Engineer], see below, has certainly the said defect yet.

Adrian Maniu [SDL Support Engineer] informed on 16/09/2017 at 19:34: - "Issue is caused by a defect in Multiterm 2017 [SR1] which I hope to be fixed in the near future."

Nick Date [SDL Support Engineer] informed on 18/09/2017 at 18:57: - "Indeed this bug has not been fixed yet as it was only reported 12 days ago and our developers have not had time to investigate the cause of this issue."

Paul Tudoran [SDL Support Engineer] informed on 11/10/2017 at 23:07: - "We are very sorry for the inconvenience and I do hope it will be fixed as soon as possible. Unfortunately we do not have an estimate time for the fix." And he informed on 12/10/2017 at 18:05: - "The defect, Hello Renato, is not yet fixed, it is currently under review."
