Multi term 2019 crashing

Hi, I thought it was all sorted since the 'fix' a few days ago... Now it opens and works, but may crash after entering one term, or two, or four, who knows?

Additionally, when working in Studio 2019 the terms are red on the left side of the editor, but there is nothing in the terms window above.

  • I have since tried it with uninstalled antivirus - i.e. none.

I have tried the widget on and off (syt. tray).

I have tried clicking on the red lines in editor to stimulate all my hard-inputted terms to appear in the terms window (nothing).

I have tried to remove the "SDL Multi Term 2019 - Remove suite of products". - refuses to budge.

Because I am quite busy everyday (most of which recently has been dead text translation from PDF into Word and not using my CAT) I have not been on top of this.

I bought this laptop and 2 pieces of software specifically for this full-time job.

Why doesn't it function? Why do I need to know how to fix it?

The laptop has no other function than translation, so it really is a simple "purchase and it went wrong scenario".

What if I do need to use my CAT tool on a client's job?
  • Hello James Muir (JamesMuir) ,

There is obviously a few issues here- not least possibly a corrupted installation of MultiTerm-

Please first remove MultiTerm and all its componenets from the machine

Control Panel Programs and Features window showing SDL MultiTerm 2019 with the option to uninstall or change.

And then navigate to the following folders to ensure MultiTerm has been completely removed-

Then navigate to the following folders delete- ensuring all traces of MultiTerm have been removed-

    MultiTerm 2019
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\MultiTerm\15\                                                                                                                                        c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\MultiTermWidget\MultiTerm15\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\MultiTerm\15.0.0.0\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\MultiTerm\15\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\MulltiTerm15.0.0.0\
    c:\ProgramData\SDL\MultiTerm\15\
    c:\ProgramData\SDL\MultiTerm\Studio5\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\MultiTerm\Studio15\

Now please reinstall MultiTerm via your SDL account (using the default settings)

Dont forget to ensure the latest updates are installed (for both MultiTerm AND Studio)

Also when you are prompted to restart your machine diruring installation- you MUST do this otherwise the install will fail.

    Is the problem now resolved?

  • I am afraid not, I did exactly as you said and during install it popped up that box about detecting a higher version and promptly stopped installing...
  • Okay, I have it working now. I went back and installed the modules separately as per the instructions I had gotten from support. (and it still wasn't showing terms btw)

Then as I was in studio doing something which required using preview of a word doc and I wanted to move my preview window about... Anyhow, because the window didn't go where I wanted it to, I ended up hitting reset for the whole layout -- and presto, the term base window starts showing the terms again.

That is strange. But it's working now, and that is all anyone wants.
