This is a very good question.

Creating roles in MultiTerm is tricky, because if anything is ill-defined or left out later it is hard to investigate where the issue is coming from.
The access rights in MultiTerm and in GroupShare are not connected, they work separately - creating a role in one will not appear in the other. And as a rule of thumb the access rights added to users in GroupShare and in MultiTerm should be synchronized.

So in this case a solution would be then to check the access rights / role in MultiTerm. Right-clicking on the role type under Restrictions on the Administration tab will help you see where the role is added to in terms of GroupShare:

Thanks, Greta. Given the difficulties you mentioned, I decided to slightly adapt one of the standard roles and this seems to be working fine.
