A cross reference provide a hyperlink (to an online resource) between a descriptive field in one entry and the term of another entry so this is what i think might be causing the [problem.

If you remove the hyperlink, are you then able to add the term?

Thank you for your reply. I was writing more detail, but before sending it to you I gave another try.

This time, after more than five failures, it worked as it should do.

It's a simple task in the textbook to set up a link within a TB, and it does not involve any hyperlinks to an online resource.
