How to add terms in MultTerm without the window opens

Hi!

I want to add terms in MultiTerm without the MultiTerm window flashing up on the screen every time. It happens also when using Quick Add New Term.

Is it possible?

Best, Knut

  • Thank you, Paul. I guessed it had, but did not find with my search strings. Yes, I will continue to do as you say and look forward to a brighter future :-)

    Best regards,

  • Hi Paul,

As you probably know by now, I hate this and REALLY wish we could stop it from doing this. It's highly annoying, serves no purpose, and really needs to be killed off. It has meant that I have had to stop using Studio's built in (already not great) terminology system, for years now. Instead I am forced to use the RyS app, which makes using terminology in Studio functional again.

I really don't understand why your developers are unable to change this, especially since so many people hate it and would like it changed.

I guess it could be changed if there was a focus on this and time made available to correct it.  Drawing the attention to and perhaps it'll be something that could be corrected in the next release.

I can remember when the behaviour was changed from the slow drawn out sliding out and in to the slightly faster one... perhaps a simple solution would be to have an option not to appear at all especially as you don't really need it for a quick addition of terms.

  • I'll keep my fingers crossed that you guys manage to find the time to change/fix this soon. I add terms in almost every segment, and the current system where the stupid window pops out (if hidden), or just starts jumping around like an idiot, merely to show you what it is doing in the background, just makes the built in terminology system unusable, for me at least. I really don’t understand how anyone can stand this enough to actually add terms regularly. Also, what is the actual point / use case / function of this? If I want to add a term I usually want to quickly move on to the next segment. I don't want to sit there watching Studio think out loud to itself.

I actually really like Studio these days, but this, and the silly Preview focus stealing, are some of the main reasons I am CONSTANTLY trying out other CAT tools (am in the process of buying Wordfast 5 Pro...) and trying to abandon ship. If these would be fixed I'd probably become quite the Studio fanboy.

Please god/Santa, fix these two things in 2020!? :-)
