A connection to SDL MultiTerm Server unknown could not be established. Please check your connection settings

Hello!

I am not very familiar with MultiTerm yet since I only recently started to work with termbases.  I so far created them directly in Studio and none of my termbases is connected to a server.  If I try to open the termbases in MultiTerm, I get the following error: "A connection to SDL MultiTerm Server unknown could not be established. Please check your connection settings".

The termbases in my termbase folder are all pdf.-files (?!).  I just updated my Studio 2017 version yesterday.  I think Multiterm is updated since there is no notification. I am using SDL Multiterm 2017 SR1 - 14.2.8.55641.

Is there someone who once had this same problem and is able to help me?  Thanks a lot in advance!

Best,

Sandra

  • Hello ,

The first thing I would check is that both Studio and Multiterm are BOTH up to date (if these are not on the latest stand- issues will arise).

Trados Studio interface with Editor view open, showing a green checkmark indicating successful update or correct settings.

If everything is up to date- Please try to reset Windows layout (often resolves similar issues)

Close-up of Trados Studio ribbon menu with 'Reset Window Layout' option highlighted by a green arrow, suggesting it as a troubleshooting step.

If this still does not resolve the problem- please reset the MultiTerm folder

    1. Go to C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\
    2. Rename "MultiTerm14" folder - e.g "MultiTerm14_OLD"
    3. Go to the Windows Control Panel and run a MultiTerm repair

Windows Control Panel 'Programs and Features' list with 'SDL MultiTerm 2019' selected and the 'Repair' option visible, indicating a step to fix issues.

Now restart your machine and Studio.

    Is the problem resolved?
